Book Review: The 360 Degree Leader

The 360 Degree Leader Developing Your Influence from Anywhere in the Organization By John C. Maxwell  How do I apply leadership principles if I’m not the boss? It’s a valid question that Maxwell answers in The 360 Degree Leader. Maxwell has five sections within the book:  The Myths of Leading from the Middle of an Organization The Challenges 360-Degree Leaders Face The Principles 360-Degree Leaders Practice to Lead Up The Principles 360-Degree Leaders Practice to Lead Across The Principles 360-Degree Leaders Practice to Lead Down Overall this is a very interesting book and I recommend it to others.  I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com  book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I Know it in My Heart!!

Image
As I visited my native place, which is a remote village, I met a village shepherd. So I stopped by him and began to talk with him. Our conversation was revolving primarily around his Job of shepherding his sheep. He had nearly 80 sheep. Half way through the talk, I asked him this, “How do know when a sheep has gone astray”. Since there were too many and he cannot constantly count his sheep, I was just wondering if he had some technique. He though for a moment and then he said, “Sir, I know it in my heart”. I thought he misunderstood my question and so I explained him the question again, but he repeated the same answer. He said there were no other techniques but somehow when his goes astray he knows it in his heart.  And then it hit me. He was explaining my relationship with the Great shepherd. Isaiah 40:11 says, He will feed his flock like a shepherd; He will carry the lambs in His arms, holding them close to his heart. God, the great shepherd has us ...

What Really Matters?

Image
I fear I am anxious of things that really don’t matter in my life. Time and again I am forgetful about the things that really matter.                                                  (Photo Source)    Paul in his letter to the Philippians prays for them like this.                                                                  “For I want you to understand what really matters ” – Philippians 1:10 (NLT) Mo...

Book Review: IT’S NOT ABOUT ME

IT’S NOT ABOUT ME, Rescue from the Life We Thought Would Make Us Happy. This by max lucado is a life changing book if you start to realize that this life you are living is not about you. Written in his own signature style, this book is filled with heartwarming stories. This book is divided into two section. The first part is called God–Pondering. The second section is called God-Promoting. Max says when we start to shift our focus from a self centered life and start to ponder on God, we then will be promoting God by being a mirror, which reflects His Glory. This is a must read for anyone who is worried about his life and who is self centered. (I think then this book is for everyone) This is very interesting book which not about me. A rare combination. A Max’s Special. BookSneeze has provided me with a free copy of this book to review as part of their book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. When God Breaks the Code of Love

Recently I got a call informing me that my son was not well. I rushed to the hospital. Because that’s what we do when people we love are sick. Jesus was informed that his friend Lazarus was ill. Though Jesus loved Lazarus instead of rushing to meet him, Jesus stayed back for 2 more days. Sometimes God breaks our common code of love. Sometimes even after we inform Jesus about our situation, he stays back. He breaks our rule of love. What do you do with such situations? What do you do when God is Silent? Jesus broke the code of love because he wanted Martha and Mary to understand that He was more than a miracle worker. He wanted them to understand that He is the Resurrection and Life. Sometimes when God doesn’t act the way we imagine, it is because he wants to give us a deeper understanding of Himself. So when God breaks your common code for love, be encouraged. He might be revealing Himself in a new way.

Book Review: Lifted by Angels

Lifted by Angels The Presence and Power of Our Heavenly Guides and Guardians By Joel Miller Published by Thomas Nelson This is a very interesting book on what bible and ancient church says about angels. I enjoyed reading it. Author brings the unseen world close and says heaven is much closer than we imagine. I always enjoyed Joel Miller’s blog which is very refreshing and fresh. His book is no different too. Chapter  1 explains  what the early saints believed about the origin and nature of the angels. Chapter 2 explores the disaster as well as the fall of humanity and our subsequent alienation from God. Chapter 3 covers the dramatic story of Israel and how God used angels to nurture and protect his chosen people so they could bring forth Christ, the Lord of the angels. Chapter 4 concerns his triumph over Satan along with our participation in that victory and reconnection with God. Chapter 5 examines the role of guardian angels, how they sh...

I AM A FOLLOWER: Book Review

I AM A FOLLOWER, THE WAY, TRUTH, AND LIFE OF FOLLOWING JESUS by LEONARD SWEET is a good book. Here the author talks that rather than leading people to God we need to be Following God. That is our calling. He starts with a   famous dancing guy video (commentary by Derek sivers). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAwhrLHsIGQ And he points out that the first follower is then one that creates a real movement. He says “ If dancing is your life, then whose beat do you feel moving with the rhythms of your body? First followers feel the Jesus way, share the Jesus truth, and live the Jesus life. And they pass the Jesus dance on to others.” Over all this is a book that changed my perspective on following Jesus. This is a good read. I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 : “Guides Conc...
