John the Baptist gave testimony about Christ. He was a witness. As he gave testimony about Christ, people starting following Jesus (John 1;35-39, 2:11). His testimony and teaching pointed towards Christ and many started following Jesus (John 2:11). John’s gospel itself was written as a testimony about Jesus. And in this gospel, John emphasis on the power of our Testimony (John:19:35, 20:31) Samaritan women is another example. Through her testimony many Samaritans believed in Jesus. (John 4:28-29,39) Jesus prayed that through the disciple’s testimony many would believe in Him. (John 17:20) John also writes about people who are afraid testify Jesus because of their “fear of Jews”. (John 7:13, 9:22, 12:42, 19:38, 20:19) John the Baptist boldly testified about Jesus when so many where afraid to. He is our example to testify about Jesus. The Word was with God. So the Word became human [ d ] and made his home among us. He has revealed God to us. (John 1:1b, 14, 18c (NLT)) Sometime back, some were writing a book about my father. So they called me and asked me details about my father. Since I was with my father longer than them, they thought I would be the best person to reveal or explain about my father.  What if we have a person who was with God from the beginning? And what if that person would come and live with us and reveal or explain God to us. Well, this is exactly what Jesus did. The Word (Jesus) was with God from the beginning. So Jesus would be the best person to reveal God to us. Jesus came into this world to reveal God to human beings. He became human and made his home among us. You may have so many questions about God. Paul in Philippians 3:12 says “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal..” In this chapter he explains about his qualification of a Jew and the things he could boast. He had his worldly qualifications. Then he renounced everything for Knowing Christ. He had his spiritual qualifications. He has set his goal very clearly as he says “I want to know Christ”. After saying all these things he says I have not attained it yet. This was a very profound statement. This state of dissatisfaction always kept him learning and doing more things for God.  Many today feel that they know it all. They claim to have attained all that God has for them. And in the process they are saturated. I have heard many say that they have become perfect and they have completely matured. Recently, I happen to hear a lot of testimonies about how God has delivered them from disease, death and so on. Almost at the end of each testimony I hear them saying, our God lives. I am glad that our God is a deliverer and am Glad that we realize that he is alive when he works miracles in our life. But there are equal numbers of people who are struggling with unanswered prayers, who are still waiting for their deliverance. Some die with their disease. Does that mean that God is not alive? When our cry for deliverance from the dungeon are not heard, we tend to question him by asking are you really God? I remember John the Baptist. He was the very first person to identify Jesus and show him to the world. As Jesus came for baptism, John cried, behold the lamb of God. He saw the heavens open, the Holy Spirit descend on Jesus and heard the Father’s voice. If one person who should not have any doubts about Jesus, he was John. My mother knew the value of drinking water. She always told us to drink more water. She explained us how water is important for our body. So we drank water. She gave all the statistics about water and how it keeps our body on the right track. But recently she was sick. And the doctors told her that it was because she did not drink enough water. I was surprised. She knew the value of water. She had all the statistics right. She could take you through a lesson on water and you would not be bored. But what she failed to do was to actually drink it. She didn’t drink enough though she knew and taught all things to us. Well, this may be the condition of many who say they follow Christ. They know the value of the Christ. They may have the statistics of the bible at their finger tips. They also explain about how Christ keeps us at the right track. But someday they fall sick. After 100 posts, I needed some rest :). So after a long break, here we go… Anxiety and worry are greatest enemies of peace. Having the inner peace can be destroyed by these two twin sisters. When I talk to different people, I come across many people who have lost their peace. Losing our peace starts in our mind. Always thinking what others may think about us is one way to stay anxious. Another way would be to fear about the future and worry about the past. So how do you come out of this anxious and worrying thought? You cannot come out of aniouxs thoughts by thinking more on the problem. The more you focus on the problem which is imaginary most of the time, the more anxious you get. One thing that I have found helpful to do when I am anxious is to focus on the One who is in Control. Many times we are anxious because we feel out of control or someone else takes control our lives. Recently, I had a discussion among a group of friends. They were discussing about how we should pray. To be more precise, they wanted to use the right words in prayer. It was a very “theological” discussion. To some extend I was even trapped. They even told me, I didn’t pray the “Right way” with the “Right words”. While I was returning home that day, I was almost floating over a flood of thoughts. I had questions that I never had on prayer. I was wondering if ever I could pray the right way. I thought over what was discussed and I felt more terrible. I was trying to count the times when I used the right words. Is there a right way to pray? Are there some right words to pray? With these questions, I opened the door to enter my home. I didn’t know I was opening a door of answers for these questions. As I opened the door, my two boys crawled towards me in Joy. One stopped half way through and started clapping. Another started to shout in joy. Then they were lifting their hands towards me ...

As I was reading a incident that is recorded in Mathew 15th chapter, 4 things that just stood out for me. 1. V21 says “And (Jesus) going away from there”. Where was Jesus going away from? This really made me curious to find what turned Jesus away from a particular place. So I read the previous verses. By doing so, I found out that Jesus was going away from the hypocritical Pharisees. They thought they knew everything and they were not teachable and were puffed up with pride. Jesus doesn’t linger with those folks longer. 2. The 2nd thing that I noticed was Jesus’s unJesus response to a wailing parent. That woman was really crying out and begging Jesus to heal her daughter. But Jesus, the one who answers before we call and the one who hears us while we are yet speaking, did not answer her V23. This act was so non Jesus. Sometimes in life we wail and cry and beg only to hear the loudest silence from God as His reply. And parents would definitely understand how that woman would have felt. ...

God is omniscient. He is all knowing. Nothing can be hidden from his eyes. He knows our thought and he knows the word before it comes to our tongue. Now, having such a God, I sometimes wonder do I have to tell him all that’s happening in my life. Doesn’t he already know it? Do I have to confess my sins? Has he not already seen what I did? So what it is the point in confessing to God. Does it increase His knowledge about us? No. But it does increase our knowledge about ourselves. When we confess we really see our real self as God sees. Only by God’s help we can confess. As we confess we start to see our sins and weakness and claim that we are helpless and also that we need God’s help. So Confession I must confess is mainly for us to realize us than to letting an all knowing God to know about ourselves. Any Confession about your Confessions lately?

Music has almost become a synonym to worship now a days. When people say we will worship our Lord, they always have music in their mind. There are so many worship services where music plays a major part. But worship is not about filling up for the silence. Your sincere silence could become a sacred worship before God. The art of worshiping God silently is vanishing. We now a days dance, shout, jump, make noise and we worship (or Do We?). I was reading about a woman in the bible who came to Jesus and worshiped Him without a word. She used tears, kisses, breaking a costly perfume. She worshipped Jesus with her Works rather than her words. She reverently kissed the feet of the Lord. Did you notice the paradox here? Reverently kissed. Reverently feared and reverently stood at a distance, may make sense. But reverently kissed? Well the word used for worship in the Old Testament is Barak and in the New Testament is Proskuneo. How a does a person share his thoughts, his plans and his message to others? Through words. How a does God share his thoughts, his plans and his message to us? Through the Word. That’s why john introduces Jesus as the Word in the very first chapter. Jesus is the Word of God, meaning he is the one that reveals God’s thoughts and plans to us. So meditate on Jesus, his work, his power, his characters. As you meditate more you understand God’s plan for you. Thank God we have the WORD. John 1;14-The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
