The Weakness of Jesus!


The Pharisees got together to discuss about this man called Jesus. They wanted to get rid of Jesus because he was destroying their image about God and his rules. 

One of the Pharisees asked: Does anyone know any weakness Jesus has? If we find the weakness of our enemy we can make use of this to defeat him. 

Another Pharisee responded: I know two of his weaknesses. (Every eye focused on this fellow). He never rejects any dinner invitation. If anyone invites him, he accepts it. May be we could invite him for dinner. 

And the other weakness he has is that, whenever he finds someone in need, he never passes by them without meeting their need. 

So this would be our plan.
We would invite him to a dinner and place a needy person (sick person) in our midst on a Sabbath day. I assure you that he will come to the dinner for sure and the first thing he would do is to meet the need of the person and would break the rules of Sabbath. 

All the Pharisees agreed. 
 
And so this happened:

 Luke 14: 1-6
One Sabbath day Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the Pharisees, and the people were watching him closely. 2 There was a man there whose arms and legs were swollen.[a] 3 Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in religious law, “Is it permitted in the law to heal people on the Sabbath day, or not?” 4 When they refused to answer, Jesus touched the sick man and healed him and sent him away. 5 Then he turned to them and said, “Which of you doesn’t work on the Sabbath? If your son[b] or your cow falls into a pit, don’t you rush to get him out?” 6 Again they could not answer.

May we also have the weakness of Jesus. May we accept all invitations like Jesus. May we never pass by a needy person without doing something for them.

Yesterday I heard Mr.Clement Vedhanayagam speak. He is such an awesome speaker. I am using his sermon as a base for today’s post. Since its valentine’s day you could also test your love.   God loves us completely and passionately because he is Love. Love is not just a part of his feeling. He is Love. Let Your Tears Fall

My father died in a bike accident some years back. During the funeral there were so many people, friends, relatives’ and neighbors. Many were trying to comfort me. They said a lot of things which I don’t remember now. But I remember one person, one of my friend, not because what he said, but because what he did. He wept. He wept with me. He never said a word, but he was by my side weeping. And somehow his tears comforted me. His tears showed me how much he loved me. Even today when I think of his tears, I am comforted. Tears somehow have this unique ability to show how much we love a person. In John chapter 11, we see a beautiful incident. (Please do read the chapter) Lazarus is sick. Jesus delays. Sisters Panic. Lazarus dies. Jesus arrives. Mary weeps at Jesus feet. And you know what I love this verse. JESUS WEPT. He didn’t hide his tears. He didn’t hold back his tears so that he would appear strong. Story - Empty Chair

This is a story that i heard in youtube told by Brennan Manning , the author of the famous book Ragamuffin Gospel. The minister in the Story was he himself. A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her father. When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows. An empty chair sat beside his bed. The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit. "I guess you were expecting me, he said. 'No, who are you?" said the father. The minister told him his name and then remarked, "I saw the empty chair and I figured you knew I was going to show up," "Oh yeah, the chair," said the bedridden man.
