Mathew 16; 21
From then on Jesus[j] began to tell his disciples plainly that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, and that he would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed…
3 But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church. He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison.
I was reading these to passages from the bible. Jesus had to suffer at the hands of elders, leading priests, and teachers of the law. He suffered at the hands of these people who were religious.
The second passage says, Saul was destroying the church. Saul was a religious man and he followed all the laws. In his Religious zeal, he was destroying the church.
So Jesus and His Church suffered at the hands of religious people. Even today it is the same. People who are driven by religious zeal and head knowledge about the word of God persecute and destroy the church. Whereas people who are driven by the love of God built the body of God.
Paul who later in his life says the love of Christ constrained him to do his ministry. And then he really built the body of Christ. Base your actions on religious zeal, you will be destroyer. Base your actions because of the love for Christ, you will be a builder.
What drives your service for God?
