My father died in a bike accident some years back. During the funeral there were so many people, friends, relatives’ and neighbors. Many were trying to comfort me. They said a lot of things which I don’t remember now. But I remember one person, one of my friend, not because what he said, but because what he did. He wept. He wept with me. He never said a word, but he was by my side weeping. And somehow his tears comforted me. His tears showed me how much he loved me. Even today when I think of his tears, I am comforted. Tears somehow have this unique ability to show how much we love a person. In John chapter 11, we see a beautiful incident. (Please do read the chapter) Lazarus is sick. Jesus delays. Sisters Panic. Lazarus dies. Jesus arrives. Mary weeps at Jesus feet. And you know what I love this verse. JESUS WEPT. He didn’t hide his tears. He didn’t hold back his tears so that he would appear strong. No He Wept. What a God we Have. As we weep at his feet, He is moved, he is troubled
Our society loves rags to riches stories. We are never tired of hearing a person's rise from poverty. But Christmas is about riches to rags. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9 Jesus who was rich left everything because of the love he had for us. He lowered himself as a baby, born in a cave, wrapped in rags and set to rest in a dirty trough, used to feed cows. This downward mobility is what we are called to do as followers of Christ. What can you lose this Christmas? How can you lower yourself for others? Its time to leave our thrones of entitlement and spiral all the way down to a manger to reach out to others. There you will find Jesus.
“I am a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Clear the way for the Lord ’s coming!’” - John 1:23 John 1:23 is about John the Baptist as we commonly call him. He was the voice shouting in the desert. He had a special calling to be the forerunner of Jesus. He was pointing not to himself but he was a voice that was pointing to Jesus, who was the Word. Nobody could ignore this voice. People were coming from all over the country to hear this voice that shouted in the desert. I believe that every follower of Christ is called to be a voice that points others to Jesus. What is your Life Shouting to others? Is your life shouting Jesus to others? Or is there some other message that your life shouting? What do people hear as they look at your life? We are called to live a life that Shouts Jesus. At least does our life whisper Jesus? May be always realize and be aware that we are call
