Be a Model

12When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them. 13"You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. 15I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. John 13; 12-17

Am so proud of myself as I write my third consecutive article about humility. With such pride in my heart, I sit down to learn about humbleness!!! J (God save Me)
We ll just look into two Verses from this passage. 15 and 17.
15-I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 17-Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

Jesus does not preach a long sermon on humbleness. He just sets us an example. People don’t need Messages. They need Models. Set them examples. Don’t preach. This is what Jesus did. He says: I have set you an example. Example of what? Humility, Love, Services. Will you Stop Talking and Start Doing. Be doers of the Word. What happens when we obey His teachings? We will be blessed or happy. Jesus says: Now that you know these things, you will be blessed or Happy if you do them. Want a principle to be happy. Take that. Obey His Word and be happy.
Set an example for others by obeying his example and be blessed.

My father died in a bike accident some years back. During the funeral there were so many people, friends, relatives’ and neighbors. Many were trying to comfort me. They said a lot of things which I don’t remember now. But I remember one person, one of my friend, not because what he said, but because what he did. He wept. He wept with me. He never said a word, but he was by my side weeping. And somehow his tears comforted me. His tears showed me how much he loved me. Even today when I think of his tears, I am comforted. Tears somehow have this unique ability to show how much we love a person. In John chapter 11, we see a beautiful incident. (Please do read the chapter) Lazarus is sick. Jesus delays. Sisters Panic. Lazarus dies. Jesus arrives. Mary weeps at Jesus feet. And you know what I love this verse. JESUS WEPT. He didn’t hide his tears. He didn’t hold back his tears so that he would appear strong. Love Test!!

Yesterday I heard Mr.Clement Vedhanayagam speak. He is such an awesome speaker. I am using his sermon as a base for today’s post. Since its valentine’s day you could also test your love.   God loves us completely and passionately because he is Love. Love is not just a part of his feeling. He is Love. We can see that as we see Jesus hung on the cross as he took our place. This was demonstrating the fullness of God’s Love. So we know God loves us. But today we are going to check if we love God. We might have said that we love you Lord. Three simple checks will reveal your love for God 1.      Do you hate evil? Psalms 97: 10 says, let those who love the LORD hate evil. If you say I love the Lord, then check do you really hate evil. You may say, I don’t do evil. But you may cherish evil in your heart. Enraged Jesus

I have never seen a painting of Jesus with a whip in a church building. I have seen the painting of a soft gentle Jesus, Christ on cross, resurrected Jesus but not once have I seen a painting of Jesus with a whip. ( If you have seen please do let me know. I would like to visit that church). As I read John 2, from verse 13, the 15th verse really got my attention. So he made a whip out of cords - John 2:15. Did you see that? This is was not a sudden outrage of Jesus but He “Made” a whip tells us that this was well planned attack. He took his time to make a whip. So if Jesus who is seen calm and composed most of the time is angry at something, I think we should seriously consider what he was angry about. Jesus himself gives us the reason. “Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!”-John 2:16. Even today there are so many who market Jesus. If you have Jesus, all your problems will be gone.
