Know and Show

1It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love. 2The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus. 3Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. John 13; 1-5

This passage is found in the 13th chapter of John. Though this passage is filled with so many valuable insights, I would like to highlight only two words for you to chew on.
The final teachings of Jesus start in this chapter.

1. Before his final teachings came his final action- the washing of their feet. And these final actions speak a lot. Most of the times we speak a lot without any action. But Jesus not only said to them that He loved them but also SHOWED them the full extent of His Love. We need to follow his foot steps.

2. Secondly, why did Jesus act like that? The word KNEW explains that to us. In this passage we read the word Jesus Knew, couple of times. This knowledge about His Father and his heavenly timing made him act differently. Jesus knew what his disciple didn’t know. And this knowledge is what caused him his action that is to Show them. He was always heavenly minded. He saw things in eternal perspective. But his disciple could not look beyond earth. When we see things from heavenly perspectives, we can be calm before any storm and even wash the feet of the person who would betray us.

So today I would like to place two words before you. Know and Show.

Know God’s Plan.
Show God’s Love.

Come, let’s follow his footsteps…
